slipped (ropework)

Tags :: §ropework §rope terminology

To say a knot or hitch is slipped (or slippery) means that it has been tied with a quick-release. Specifically, one part of the knot has been finished by pulling through a bight rather than the full working end. This means that one end of the bight can be pulled to spill the knot.

Not to be confused with the §slip knot.
