When washing rope in the washing machine it is a good idea to wrap it in a towel or a fibre bag. Most §synthetic rope can be washed in a washing machine.
Natural fibre ropes are typically not safe to machine-wash, but there are exceptions, for example §linen hemp rope. §hemp and §jute rope are often discarded if they are severely contaminated (e.g. with blood or other bodily fluids).
§natural fibre rope must typically be dried under tension, i.e. both ends tied around something in order to stretch it out.
